Located in the heart of Korčula’s old town, Buffet Pizzeria Amfora is more than just a place to eat — it is a story shaped by generations, history, and passion.
Long before it became a pizzeria, this house carried a very different purpose. It once served as a residence for nuns and priests, reflecting the spiritual life that once filled the streets around the old theatre — a cultural landmark that no longer exists today, but whose presence is still felt in the atmosphere of this historic area.
The house itself stood as a ruin when it was first acquired by our family. With vision, effort, and dedication, what once had nothing became something meaningful — a place of gathering, food, and memories.
One of the most unique features of the house are its stone columns. Although the balcony they once supported no longer exists, the columns remain as silent witnesses of time. On the very corner of the house stands a carved siren — a traditional symbol believed to protect the home and ward off evil, much like the figureheads once found on ships sailing the Adriatic.
Our Journey Through Time
Before 1984
The building served as a residence for nuns and priests, located in a historic street near the old theatre.
1984 – The Beginning
Our grandparents purchased the house in a ruined state and began transforming it into something new. This marked the birth of Buffet Pizzeria Amfora.
The Early Years
Under the guidance of Brankica and Toni, Amfora opened its doors and became a recognizable local spot, building its first loyal guests.
2010 – A New Chapter
The pizzeria was taken over by Siniša and Sanja Jagatić, who continued to grow the story and maintain its presence in the community.
2024 – Back to the Roots
Suzana Lucin takes over the business, bringing fresh energy and a deep personal connection to its history.
Today the goal is clear — to bring Amfora back to its former glory while respecting its heritage and embracing a modern approach.
